Amid midterms, papers and projects I made some time to sit down with my advisor yesterday and finalize a graduation plan for me. Wow. It's that time so soon? It doesn't seem like I've learned enough to set out in the world and do good work yet. I guess that's what the next 18 months are for... to make sure I've learned enough.
I'll be graduating at the end of March 2012. That means I have just four more quarters of school (not counting this one thats half over). For those four quarters I will be taking at least 16 credit hours each. I think there is one quarter where I'll have 18 hours. It definitely won't be easy.
I have to file for graduation at the end of this school year. That's eight months away... but it seems so close. Apparently, by filing early (two quarters and a summer early, to be exact) it will give me time to correct anything that's wrong with my transcripts before graduating. Say I forget to take a core class or something... it will [theoretically] get noticed by the school when I file for graduation and they will call me on it [hopefully] sometime before it's too late to fix it and I [grudgingly] have to take one more class and graduate in June.
The whole filing for graduation thing... it's kind of scary! I mean, it's the first step to the rest of my life. I've been going to school since I was 5 (maybe before?), I'm not sure what I'll do if I'm not in school.
I'll probably cry.
And then celebrate.
And then go out and make the world a better place.
At least I hope that's what happens.
